“In 2015, we met, and it was love at first sight. In this time, we’ve been on amazing adventures and become best friends”, bride Gloria said upon introducing their story. A proposal came in the middle of Tasmania, on the deepest lake in the southern hemisphere and one of Australia’s most iconic wilderness locations. In September 2020, Nate proposed to Gloria at the unique Pumphouse Point retreat within the Lake St Clair National Park.

Wedding planning started right away for the newlyweds. “The whole planning process took about ten months. It was easy to plan our wedding because the venue, the photographer, the caterers and the florist were all experts and knew each other. The food and service provided by Silverbean Catering were amazing. Pip Avery supplied the beautiful flowers. In Tanya Challice’s hands, amazing moments were captured through her camera lens. Valleyfield Estate, located in southern-central Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, provided the perfect backdrop for a laid-back rustic wedding. It was everything we hoped for and more”, said the couple.

Although life is often unpredictable, the moments when things don’t go as planned are usually the most memorable. We asked Gloria and Nate about any moments that didn’t go as planned and how they dealt with them. “As the ceremony was about to begin, it rained! In retrospect, we laugh at how drenched everyone got, but we’re thankful that the weather warmed up after an hour,” explained the couple. We both wanted to be married in the garden so, after much back and forth, we stuck to our guns and held the ceremony outside.

In closing, we asked the couple to reflect on their day and describe one of their favourite memories. “We had a wonderful time with family and friends in the most beautiful place within our town. Having our closest family and friends around to celebrate our wedding was all we wanted to do”.
