Ratho Farm – A vintage farm elopement

When it comes to capturing the heart and soul of a wedding, Marty from Love and Thunder truly leads the way. His incredible talent for storytelling through photography made him the perfect choice to bring our recent photoshoot at Ratho Farm to life. Every detail, every moment, and every emotion was beautifully documented, and we’re thrilled to share this unforgettable collaboration.

Set amidst the nostalgic beauty of Ratho Farm in Bothwell, this shoot was designed to inspire those planning an elopement or micro wedding. As one of Tasmania’s most charming wedding venues, Ratho Farm offers fabulous boutique accommodation, picturesque grounds, and a rustic barn ideal for epic parties. It’s a dream destination for couples looking for a romantic weekend wedding getaway with friends and family.

Marty’s photography perfectly captured the essence of our theme—a modern twist on vintage elopement styling. With his keen eye for detail and a natural talent for finding beauty in every scene, Marty highlighted the rich berry tones, layered textures, and curated details created by Style My Day. From urns and ceramic vessels to flowing swathes of linen and accents of fruit and berries, the styling combined rustic charm with contemporary romance.

Our models, Tara and Jake from The Roaming Royles, brought the story to life. As wedding photographers themselves, they understood the vision and added their unique energy, even capturing behind-the-scenes content for social media. Tara wore three stunning gowns custom-designed for the shoot by Brittney Paige Bride. Each dress showcased timeless elegance with a modern edge, complemented perfectly by her hair and makeup, expertly crafted by Scarlett Quarmby.

Jake, the ultimate modern groom, wore a bold red velvet suit by Tux Hobart, bringing a vibrant sophistication to the shoot. The pair’s chemistry and Marty’s ability to draw out authentic, joyful moments made every frame feel alive.

Of course, no celebration is complete without some indulgent treats. The exquisite cake by Holy Cake, adorned with pressed flowers, was both a centerpiece and a work of art. To the Table Grazing provided a bountiful platter, and Frogmore Creek elevated the occasion with sparkling wine that added a celebratory touch.

We’re so grateful to have worked with such a phenomenal team of vendors, all coming together to create something truly special. Check out the full gallery below, where you’ll see even more of Marty’s breathtaking work and all the inspiring details from this day at Ratho Farm.
